How To Do Valentine’s Day On A Budget

I love you bears

Love is in the air as Cupid’s big day approaches. For some this brings excitement and for others, it can be dread! (Looking at you boyfriends and husbands who like to last minute shoppers.) Unfortunately, Valentine’s Day can become quite expensive if you plan to buy into the whole jewelry routine. Thankfully, there are plenty of affordable gifts and romantic ideas for demonstrating your love for your partner! However, your favorite conversational heart candy that taste like chalk has been discontinued and won’t be making this list.

10 Budget-Friendly Valentine’s Day Gifts

  1. Instead of purchasing a new outfit and going out to an expensive dinner, consider staying at home, dressing up and cooking dinner yourself! Not only can this be more affordable, but it’s more personal and romantic.
  2. If you and your partner are more of an outdoors couple, consider a romantic picnic at your favorite outdoor location!
  3. Plan a romantic evening after your dinner. This could include watching a romantic movie for your significant others (sorry guys). Don’t forget to disconnect from social media. Make the evening about you and your significant other.
  4. Make a playlist for each other! This can the first song you remember on your first date or even the first song you danced to at your wedding. Try to make this personal and something you can bond over. Of course, you should make room for some songs to dance and have fun too!
  5. Set a budget and buy gifts for each other. Making a budget beforehand can help you from making a purchase out of your means.
  6. Make your partner a wonderful breakfast. You might have to plan this one out ahead of time. Purchase the groceries and wake up earlier to accomplish this one!
  7. Consider writing a meaningful note and slipping it into your partner’s purse, lunchbox, or briefcase.
  8. Consider crafting something by hand. If this isn’t your strong suit you could even bake your partner’s favorite dessert or one you won’t burn!
  9. If you remember your first date, you could try to recreate this and make it extra special.
  10. Have a sunset date! If you both are able to meet at a scenic location before the sunset, this could be the perfect romantic setting.

Final Thoughts

Valentine’s Day isn’t and shouldn’t be all about spending money to prove your love and affection for your significant other. Making this day as special as possible by personalizing your day and expressing your love for one another is what it’s all about. Just remember to plan ahead of time and don’t forget February 14th this year. Otherwise, you could end up sleeping in the dog house!
