Same Day ACH debits begin on September 15, 2017
The National Automated Clearinghouse Association (NACHA) has adopted a new Same Day ACH rule to provide for faster automatic debit payments. NACHA administers operating rules for Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments for financial institutions including Launch Federal Credit Union.
ACH debits include electronic payments, automatic drafts, paper check conversions or any electronic withdrawal from your account utilizing your credit union account number and routing number. Examples include online payments for credit cards, utility bills, and loan payments.
How does this new Rule affect me?
On September 15, you may see a change in the way certain debits clear your account. This means that payments may process against your account more quickly. For example, if you authorize an online payment or write a check at a retailer that is converted into an electronic payment, it can be deducted from your account on the same day.
Please consider this new rule when you authorize payments to ensure funds are available in your account. Keep in mind that if you verify your account balance in the morning, or transfer funds to cover transactions, additional ACH transactions may be processed against your account later that day.
Launch Federal Credit Union has no control over when the ACH debit transaction are received. The debit to your account depends on when the payment is submitted by the originating company or financial institution.
If you have any questions concerning the new Same Day ACH rule, please call us at 321-455-9400 or 800-662-5257.
